Job Title: Senior Compliance Coordinator

Job Summary

The Senior Compliance Coordinator serves as a subject matter expert across the organization for multi-media environmental regulatory compliance—including air, water, wastewater, and solid and hazardous waste. This role brings structure and leadership to regulatory efforts, ensuring compliance with all applicable environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise management on current and upcoming laws, rules, and regulations
  • Ensure timely submission of all required reports to state, federal, and local agencies.
  • Support facility managers and senior staff in achieving and maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Assist in preparing permit applications and renewals.
  • Provide regulatory support to publicly owned treatment works (POTWs).
  • Monitor all regulatory reporting deadlines to ensure timely and accurate submissions.
  • Oversee sampling schedules and ensure compliance with priority pollutant, categorical, and permit-related monitoring requirements.
  • Track permit compliance dates and reporting deadlines.
  • Assist with pretreatment inspections, permit issuance, and regulatory notices as needed.
  • Serve as a liaison to regulatory agencies, representing the company at hearings, task forces, and industry meetings.
  • Provide guidance and support to facility compliance coordinators.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Certification, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in environmental compliance and regulatory affairs.
  • Valid Class “C” Texas Driver’s License required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations and best practices in sampling, lab procedures, and chain of custody.
  • Familiarity with current air, water, wastewater, and solid waste regulatory standards.
  • Strong project management, leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Basic understanding of biology, chemistry, and mathematics as related to environmental management.
  • Experience collaborating with engineers and project managers to ensure permit compliance (including CWA, CAA, and RCRA).
  • Proficiency in regulatory compliance systems and quality management protocols.
  • Understanding of activated sludge wastewater treatment plant operations.
  • Knowledge of supervisory and administrative practices.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment and software.
  • Proficiency in interpreting analytical and field data for use in reports and permit applications.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, including in extreme weather conditions and remote locations.
  • May involve exposure to noise, chemicals, odors, electrical and mechanical hazards, and toxic substances—with appropriate PPE required.
  • Must be able to wear full PPE, including full-face respirator and supplied air.
  • Must be responsive and available for emergency situations.
  • Tasks may require rapid response under tight deadlines.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods for computer and reporting tasks.
  • Ability to walk and stand for plant site inspections.
  • Occasional kneeling, crouching, twisting, and climbing ladders or stairs.
  • Must be able to work in potentially hazardous environments with appropriate safety measures.
  • Ability to safely operate a vehicle and field equipment.
