Junior Controls Technician (Contract-to-Hire)

📍 Location: Onsite – Downtown Washington, D.C.

💼 Clearance: Active Top Secret Clearance Required

💰 Salary: $75,000 – $80,000 upon conversion to full-time

🕒 Schedule : Monday – Friday | 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM

About the Role

Leidos is seeking a Junior Controls Technician to support a high-impact, National Security Sensitive Program within our Security Engineering Programs – Center for Information Systems Security (SEP-CISS). In this hands-on role, you’ll work on complex building automation and HVAC control systems in a secure federal facility located in downtown Washington, D.C. This is a Contract-to-Hire role with strong potential for full-time conversion, offering a stable career path in a mission-critical environment.

What You’ll Do

• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair building HVAC and related systems
• Perform field calibration, tuning, and preventative maintenance
• Support integration of data from industrial machinery into digital control platforms (e.g., SCADA)
• Interpret technical manuals and control system schematics
• Document work activities in the service management platform
• Collaborate with the Controls Team Lead and follow automation directives

What You Bring

• Top Secret Clearance (must be active at time of hire)
• Minimum 2 years of experience with HVAC, electrical, mechanical, or industrial control systems
• Familiarity with SCADA systems and building automation technology
• Ability to read technical manuals and use hand/power tools effectively
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Flexibility for occasional weekend or night shifts

Nice to Have

• Exposure to MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems
• Experience with DDC platforms such as:
• Loytec
• Automated Logic
• Alerton
• Allen Bradley
• Reliable Controls
• Ability to read or revise control system diagrams and technical drawings
• Background in building automation or facilities engineering
