Assists medical staff in controlling patient and visitor behavior, and protects hospital assets. Responsibilities Oversees at-risk patients, performs safety intake, and searches patients and their property for injurious items. Monitors, observes, and documents for medical records and ED or crisis intervention staff. Applies restraints and monitors safety of combative patients. Performs range-of-motion checks on restrained patients and communicates changes to nursing staff. Assesses security of hospital property through rounds. Investigates lost, stolen, or damaged property. Investigates injuries, assaults, and incidents involving patients, staff, and visitors. Responds to emergency situations throughout the hospital. Interacts with law enforcement agencies and provides necessary information. Monitors alarms and responds accordingly. Controls unacceptable patient and visitor behavior. Operates specialized equipment such as cameras and radios. Fulfills compliance responsibilities. Handles morgue services, including admits and releases. Performs other duties as assigned. Education: HS diploma or equivalent Other Information: Knowledge of emergency protocols required; criminal justice coursework preferred.
