Base pay range

$110,000.00/yr - $160,000.00/yr

FTS is seeking a skilled Data Scientist to join a dynamic, cross-disciplinary team working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, data governance, and law. In this role, you will support clients in evaluating and strengthening their AI systems—helping shape model governance from initial design through deployment.

Your work will involve building and applying rigorous methodologies to test AI models for fairness, transparency, risk, and performance. You’ll also collaborate closely with legal and compliance professionals to bridge technical findings with regulatory obligations and ethical best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze and audit AI models for compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical frameworks
• Apply statistical and machine learning techniques to evaluate model accuracy, bias, fairness, and explainability
• Partner with legal teams to convert technical insights into clear, actionable guidance for clients
• Support development of data governance and privacy strategies, including deidentification methods
• Keep up with emerging developments in AI regulation, red teaming, risk management, and responsible AI
• Participate in the creation and validation of tools for AI system monitoring, evaluation, and documentation

Required Qualifications:

• Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related discipline
• Strong foundation in machine learning, including bias detection, risk analysis, and model interpretability
• Experience working with large-scale AI models, including model validation, testing, and deployment
• Proficiency with Python and its data science ecosystem (NumPy, Pandas, scikit-learn, etc.)
• Familiarity with frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch
• Excellent communication skills and ability to translate complex technical findings for cross-functional teams

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Hands-on experience training or fine-tuning large language models (LLMs)
• Understanding of LLM behavior, prompt design, and evaluation techniques
• Background in adversarial testing, AI audits, or red teaming exercises
• Knowledge of fairness metrics and bias testing in generative and predictive models
• Awareness of evolving data privacy and AI regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and upcoming U.S./international standards
• Creative, adaptable, and able to balance independent work with collaborative team projects
